Brown University Research Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The position will provide both part-time administrative and research support to a research laboratory in department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. The work in the lab focuses on understanding the interaction of intestinal bacteria with immune system. The successful candidate will work closely with PI to design and perform a variety of in vitro and in vivo experiments and participate in data analysis, trouble shooting, publication preparation, and presenting scientific data in lab meetings and research conference. The candidates should be highly self-motivated, strong desire to learn, and have excellent communication skills. This position is 25 hours per week.

Qualifications:

♦ Education: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related science (grade 7). Master’s degree/Bachelor’s degree with 1 – 2 years relevant laboratory experience (grade 8).♦ Technical: Must have basic knowledge of laboratory approaches and techniques in the areas of molecular and cell biology. This position requires independent thought and the ability to troubleshoot experiments and equipment, as needed. Research lab experience and small animal handling experience are preferred qualifications for this position.♦ Teamwork: Must be willing and able to provide technical support to laboratory personnel.♦ Organizational: Must see to maintenance and organization of laboratory research activities.♦ Interpersonal: Must interact well with other laboratory personnel, with members of the University community, and with outside vendors.
