Job Description

Empower is Electronic Systems web-based portal through which employees can share and collaborate on ideas, methods, and products. The program consists of two distinct categories: Empower Innovation and Empower Continuous Improvement (CI). While Empower Innovation handles new disruptive technologies and products, Empower Continuous Improvement focuses its effort on improving our solutions, processes, technologies, and making BAE Systems the best place to work.

Empower CI receives hundreds of creative and innovative ideas each year and the right candidate will have an important role in helping us help our employees. This role will be a core member of the Empower CI team working with functional leads and management across the organization to drive improvement and support a zero defects culture.

This Electronic Systems (ES) sector level position has primary roles and responsibilities that include:

  1. Idea Management: This role includes progressing new and existing ideas through the acknowledgement, evaluation, maturation, and implementation phases. As an innovation specialist, you will work closely with the innovator, evaluators, and Empower CI program manager to facilitate collaboration, maintain ongoing and regular communication, and provide high level project management when needed.

  2. Campaign Moderation: We leverage our idea management platform to conduct targeted idea campaigns to solve critical business issues. Your role will involve providing campaign moderation and support to campaign managers. This may include engaging on ideas, connecting innovators together for collaborative purposes, or facilitating evaluation sessions.

  3. Program Advocacy: A successful innovation specialist will become a familiar and respected presence. You will support a variety of outreach activities to ensure wide and effective employee engagement across all ES geographic sites while advocating Empower CI in every interaction you have.

  • Bachelor s Degree; a technical degree is not required, but candidate must be comfortable participating in and supporting highly technical conversations and subject matter.

  • Must be a people person with excellent conversational and written skills. In this role you will interact with every type of role, pay grade, and function often all in the same day. Being polite, professional, and constructive is of the greatest importance. Must possess the ability to stay positive and encouraging even in less than ideal interactions.

Preferred Skills and Education

Proven ability to do independent research. Ideas include all functions, technologies, and even areas that aren t established yet. The right candidate is willing to ask questions, do in-depth research, admit when they need help, and constantly learn.
