As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: GIS Consulting – Participates in needs assessments and other GIS consulting activities. Conducts one-on-one meetings with clients to gather data. Acquire Hardware/Software – Assists with hardware/software recommendations and specifications, and develops pricing for and/or orders hardware and software. May assist with development of hardware and/or software testing algorithms, and perform testing. Possibly developing simple database designs, including geodatabases, with review by others Reviewing data sources and recommending approaches for data conversion, migration and manipulation, quality control, quality assurance, etc. (for review by others) Converting data for routine project activities such as engineering support Possibly developing conceptual designs for applications or performing coding for portions of applications, under supervision Possibly duplicating and modifying existing applications for new clients, particularly browser-based applications Possibly developing application testing plans and test applications Supporting end users for specific applications Possibly training CDM Smith staff and clients, primarily in one-on-one situations Possibly managing the schedule and budget for small (<$25,000) tasks Possibly overseeing the work of one or two interns or level 1 GIS specialists Creating proposal graphics Taking a role on projects and client interaction that could contribute to follow-on work

CDM Smith Employment Type:
A successful CDM Smith candidate will have: B.S./B.A. or M.S./M.A. in computer science, geography, geology, engineering, planning, mathematics, government, or a related field Three years’ experience applying GIS technology with B.S., 2 years’ with M.S. Familiarity with most of the following tools: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, UML Tools, ArcEditor 9.x, ArcView 9.x, ArcGIS Extensions, Model Builder, ArcPad, GPS Unit, Internet Explorer, VBA for ArcGIS, ArcIMS, Autodesk MapGuide, Avenue (preferred) Strict attention to detail Excellent time management skills
Work may involve field investigations requiring part-time work outdoors.
